MARTINEZ APPLAUDS HEALTHY COMPETITION SPURRED BY WAL-MART GENERIC PRESCRIPTION DRUG POLICY

U.S. Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL) today made the following comments in regards to Wal-Mart's announcement in Orlando today that it would be expanding the number of generic prescription drugs available under its $4 generic prescription program and that the program will go statewide beginning tomorrow.

Senator Martinez said:

"Access to affordable, quality prescription drugs is critical to improving the health and quality of life of Floridians," said Martinez. "Wal-Mart's actions, providing more than 300 generic prescription drugs that address 20 different health care categories, are already having a huge impact on the marketplace. Healthy competition benefits consumers and I applaud Wal-Mart for being the trailblazer in this area."
